The swings are most extreme in southern and central Siberia, but even in Moscow temperatures can range from -30 to 30 Celsius (-20 to 100 Fahrenheit). The Black Sea coast and its resort communities tend to have the least swing. Late spring, early summer and the fall are good times to visit. During the hot summer months of July and August cities shut down as locals head to the countryside to live off the land at their dachas. In the beginning of September the ballets and the operas start back up and the cities come to life again. (The performing arts season runs from about September to May, although there are occasional shows in the summer, especially during St. Petersburg's White Nights Festival in June.) The first real cold hits Moscow and St. Petersburg sometime in November and there's usually snow on the ground from December through April. If you're prepared for the cold, Russia is often at its most beautiful under a blanket of snow. Winter is also the peak of the theater season and generally has fewer tourists. Steer clear of the mud and slush that covers the country during the spring thaw (April to May) and late fall. © Copyright 'The MoscowTimes'

Open Question: Question about Russians and dates.?

An odd title maybe but i have been dating a Russian girl the last month, we are both in our mid 20s and have had 5-6 dates however she does things that make me question if she wants to date me or not, and i need help to work out whether its down to culture differences, or if she is just not that interested, it could of course be neither and just be the way this girl wants to take it. We both live in Sweden now, but i am British, she's lived here 2 years, and me 1 year. Firstly, all the dates have been in the daytime, and have stopped before 7pm, which seems strange to me, we have never kissed yet either or held hands, just long hugs at the end of our meetings, the whole thing doesn't seem to be going anywhere, even though i really want it to. On the other hand she gave me a quite expensive birthday gift this week I hope someone who knows about the Russian culture can help me here, I don't know how different it is to UK/US standards if at all, please only serious answers.

Open Question: I NEED YOUR OPINIONS PLEASE: SEARCHING FOR MY GOAL IN LIFE?

Good Morning, my intention for writing here is to seek some ideas from you guys. People who might have been in the same exact situation as I until you found your goal. I'm a young teen I'm only 18 years old. I went to a very good High School. I was accepted there in the 1st place because of my fantastic grades. The first 2 years of my high school were fantastic! Then as a typical teen I made some poor choices... as an example that was my biggest issue " absences" My school counsler explained to me and my mom that I am a very bright student and the truth behind it is I really am.. and I truly do enjoy learning.. studying. Seems out of the ordinary.. but I do. So.. I had to withdraw from school because I was explained that I wouldent have sufficent time to make up all of my credits or " missing classes". I wouldent be able to graduate on time with eveyone although I felt so regretfull and even to this day I do feel the same. I feel horrible!! I feel extremely stupid for my choices! Why didint I just go to class? Why didint I just take my mid-terms they were a piece of cake!!! Finally... had to enroll in a GED School so I did... worked out fine took my 5 exams passed all exept my biggest weakeness MATHEMATICS... Small insight on why im weak in this area. I come from 3 different backgrounds. Since I was in 4 grade i have always been moved.. I've studied in Russia.. Italy... and U.S. 3d grade in the U.S 4th grade in Russia .. they told me I wasent comprehending their methods.. so they said I had to start all over 4th grade.. Ofcourse I had no idea about the School's in Russia and their systems of learning. After completing 4thgrade I moved back to U.S ... In America the middle school told me that I couldent go to 5th grade as I shouldev. .. but I had to start immediately 7th grade.. because grades are based on the age of the student .. at the time I was 13yrs. And so I did. I had the worst time learning 7th grade in NY. I couldent understand their ways of teaching.. the methods.. I was doing it one way they told me NO! You have to do it this way! Although the math result was the same in the end. Anyhow. Managed slowly to get up in 8th grade then entered High School beautifully with A's and B's.Anyhow.. I've been confused a lot. Any other subject excluding math I can handle. Yet Math im ashamed. Because I know my capabilities. I know myself. My strength .. my ambition. I'm extremely focused if I have a goal. Now... back to the GED school.. I was doing fine yet the teacher made me feel like an insect because I diidnt have a clue about the most basic and simple concepts of mathematics. So I cried and left never came back. Left school. I bought a book that was focused on 50 Basic GED Math SKILLS I said I am going to this by myself. Yet I couldent. I couldent teach myself. I didint have the knowledge how to. So I asked my good friend to help ... he was majoring Calculous in 10th grade imagine.. He explained 2-3 equations in Russian to me... and I got it .. I was flying!!! then he went to college and thats where everything ended. Now its been a year. I'm working a regular job I despise! I hate it! Because I know what things I could do!! In my life! I enjoy writing.. I enjoy detective stuff... I'm good at reading people... cathching their ideas before hand. I can have a conversation with anyone and obtain their adoration. I'm NOT lazy! I'm just lost. And there are a million things I want to do!!!!!! I love music. I'm fantastic at dancing all types of music. I have this hunger for different cultures. I Know a lot about different cultures.. Especially Europe.. Other Continents.. I speak 4 Languages fluently.. and 4-6 other ones that I know how to express myself in. I love so many things. I wanted to be a foreign Immigration Officer when I was 12yrs old hahah! wow.. then I wanted to work in the USCIS when I was in 9th grade. I have a lot of experiance in traveling.. citizenship .. greencards,.. visas I know a lot because I've traveled a lot!! I'm a good conversationalist! And all of this goes down the drain because my family arent fluent English speakers and they dont know how or where to aim me in what area! Anyhow I need to get this GEd and I have no clue where to start. :( Or what to do afterwards.. I'm so scared ... And I have so much stress at this age! I'm only 18!! And already have bills to pay.. I dont live with my family.. I live with my bf.. and we are struggaling!! I DONT WANT THIS LIFESTYLE! I DO NOT ACCEPT IT! I DO NOT! AND I WONT! AND I SWEAR I WONT GIVE UP FOR NOTHING UNTILL I BRING OUT THE BEST OF ME SOMEWHERE!! HELPING OTHERS! MAKING THE SMALLEST DIFFERANCE IS THE WORLD TO ME!! It feel weak. I dont know what to do! where to start! What to focus my entire brain on!! Gosh.. I feel so miserable when I think of how I was and how I've become.. and the things I go through that couldeve been easily avoided. :( If anyone

Resolved Question: Would you date someone who didn't belong to your race/culture?

I think there is this older Russian guy who likes me, yet he hasn't asked me out. He was my teacher at college and he has said and did things to let me know that he does like me more than just student or a "friend." I refuse to ask him out b/c I think he is way older than me and since he is the guy he should make the first move. We exchanged numbers before the semester ended...could it be he is being careful? I am not Russian...I am a American Woman.

Voting Question: Why do people deny that Jews are somewhat of an ethnicity too?

I always here people say stuff like "there are Russian Jews, Ethiopian Jews, Arab Jews, etc." and think that Jews are a religion, but this is not true. Consider the following two points: 1. The Jewish people originated thousands of years ago in what is now Palestine/Israel. These proto-Jews were known as "Hebrews" or "Israelites." These Hebrew-speaking Mosaic faith practicing people didn't disapear or assimilate. 2700 years or so their empire was conquered by the Babylonians who exiled them. They did not return until being liberated by the Persians. Some stayed outside of Israel and became "Mizrahim." Around the time of Jesus the Romans conquered Judea and eventually destroyed the Jews' temple and exiled the Jews all over the world. Some of these Roman exile Jews were taken as slaves to Italy, where they eventually diverged- some went to Iberia and became known as "Sephardim" while others migrated into France/Germany and later into Eastern Europe becoming known as "Ashkenazim". Thats how Jews got to be all over the world. The Jews did not intermix that much with gentiles and there were almost no conversions (the Khazar nobles converted but many ended up becoming Muslim and assimilated into Kazakhs and other Central Asian and Caucasian groups.) Genetic studies show that Jews all around the world (besides Ethiopian Jews) are genetically related and possess substantial Levantine/Hebrew DNA (being compared to Palestinians, with whom they are essentially cousins). 2. Jews have maintained a distinct culture wherever they are, usually a fusion of Jewish culture and the local culture. Most religions don't have a distinct culture. So Jews, despite geographical origin, are Jews. All similar to each other and similar to other Mediterranean groups like Palestinians, Anatolians, Lebanese, Greeks, Italians, etc. I know it is a religion too and anyone can convert, but conversion is VERY RARE! Your thoughts? @Leo the Khazar theory is completely bogus and antisemitic. First of all, Arthur Koestler had very tenuous evidence- and no DNA evidence what so ever. Secondly, I don't doubt that Ashkenazim are very mixed. They definitely have Israelite/Hebrew ancestry, and it is possible that some have a small fragment of Khazar ancestry- but they are not pure Khazars. There is no people on Earth that are "pure". So if you would please stop posting this pseudoscience around and accept the real facts, that'd be great. :)

Voting Question: I am in a interracial relationship with a Russian Guy, how can I better cater to him?

Hello I have been dating this Russian guy who was raised in Israel, I am Haitian American and decided to date out of my race for various reason. But I am so in love with him. I was just curious and wanted to know more about the culture so I can cater to him. He has been such a sweet heart. Every time he see's me he brings me gifts (is that the culture?) If so I am loving it and may never go back lol. I would like to know what do most Russian men like or dislike, I love the fact that we can live in a world where love has no boundaries but I want to make sure that I am doing everything right because he is a keeper. I would like advice from both women and men is there anything I should be aware of? Also what is the ultimate turn on for a Russian guy? ***LIZ*** lol it's funny but he is not a heavy drinker.
